<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw having a spike bumper mounting structure such that strength is secured for a guide bar mounting cover and for a spike bumper, that the spike bumper is fixed in a position closer to a guide bar, and that a spike bumper is hardly lost. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spike bumper 10 is formed in a planar shape as a whole, comprising a blade part 12, a jaw part 13 that is brought in contact with a cutting target T, and a mounting arm 16 extending in a planar shape from the blade part 12. A slit 26 inserted the mounting arm 16 is formed on the wall-like rib 25 of the guide bar mounting cover 14 that is fixed to a housing 2a together with the spike bumper 10.
