<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a gage member disposed in a cloth carrying direction in order to fold cloths with a folding line roughly parallel to the carrying direction as a reference and to prevent the gage member from moving in a direction crossing the carrying direction by external force during folding. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A gap through which the cloths can pass through, is provided between a carrying surface on a conveyor carrying the cloths, the gage member 20 is installed on a device body side at the end part on the upstream side in the carrying direction, and a pressing unit 25 for pressing the gage member against the external force acting during folding, is installed on the downstream side in the carrying direction of the gage member to the device body side. The pressing unit has a pressing piece 26 having a withdrawn position at which the pressing piece does not perform a pressing operation above the gage member 20 and an operating position at which the pressing piece presses the end part on the downstream side of the gage member 20 in the direction of the carrying conveyor.
