PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device of a document pressing plate that does not increase the cost and size, certainly and stably moderates the impact by acceleration drop of the document pressing plate, and reduces the adverse effect on a precision apparatus. SOLUTION: This opening and closing device includes an attaching member, support member, slider, compression spring, cam follower, and cam member. The cam member is disposed in the attaching member oppositely to the slider, a cam follower pin is inserted between the slider and cam member, a press fit hole is formed in a right and left side plates of the support member, both ends of the cam follower pin are inserted, the cam follower pin is slid along the long press fit hole in response to the rotation of the support member, and the acceleration when the support member is closed is suppressed by forming a taper in the press fit hole.
