PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design support method and a design support system of an exposure-type column base part of a beam frame of a pole with a brace which make possible easy design by the method of determining the brace material of the exposure-type column base part of a brace structure in advance and by designing a gusset plate based on it. SOLUTION: The design support method of the exposure-type column base part of the beam frame of the pole with the brace is provided with an input step, a column-base determination step, an ultimate bearing capacity determination step, a gusset plate initial data input step, a gusset plate calculation step, a column base judgement step, and a display step. In the input step, the pole member of the frame, a beam member, and a brace member are inputted by using an arithmetic unit provided with an input means, a display means and an output means. In the column-base determination step, an exposure-type column base is determined which corresponds with the inputted pole member, and the ultimate bearing capacity of the inputted brace member is determined in the ultimate bearing capacity determination step. In the gusset plate initial data input step, the material and the minimum width of the gusset plate are inputted, and the plate thickness and the required welding length of the gusset plate are calculated in the gusset plate calculation step. In the column base judgement step, it is judged whether the exposure-type column base is applicable or not, and the design specifications of the column base and the gusset plate are displayed in the display step.
