PURPOSE: A device for processing digital image and a method for controlling thereof are provided to automatically control zoom level to photograph a subject in a set size. CONSTITUTION: An image input unit(310) receives input of input image. A zoom adjusting unit(380) controls zoom level of the input image. A control unit(320) controls the zoom level until a subject rate is coincide with a predetermined reference rate. The subject rate is relevant to a ratio of the subject area which the subject occupies in whole area of the input video.
