<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method, by which lyoniresinol useful as an ingredient for antimicrobial agents, bleaching agents and the like and having a naturally existing specific three-dimensional configuration can simply be obtained in a large amount. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the lyoniresinol comprises: (a) a process for reducing a compound of formula III into a compound of formula II preferably in the presence of palladium hydroxide/carbon catalyst; (b) a process for closing a ring from the compound of formula II to a compound of formula I; and, if necessary, (c) a process for reducing a compound of formula IV to compounds of formula II and/or formula III in the presence of potassium ferricyanide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
