<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus and a display method, capable of detecting precisely an indicated object without affecting image quality over the whole display area, even when detecting the indicated object partially in a prescribed area of the display area. <P>SOLUTION: The display apparatus includes a display panel 11 having a plurality of pixels a configured to execute display by driving a liquid crystal layer, and a backlight 12 for illuminating a display surface of the display panel 11 from a backface side. The display apparatus further includes a photodetector S arranged on the pixcels a and configured to receive light entered from the side of the display surface A of the display panel 11. The display apparatus further includes a detection part configured to execute image recognition in the proximity of the display surface A from a difference between a photodetection amount in the photodetector S in a state where an illuminating light h from the backlight 12 is radiated from the display surface A and a photodetection amount in the photodetector S in a state where the illuminating light h is blocked before the display surface A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
