PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting container for a high intensity discharge lamp, for maintaining durability during repeating light-on/-off operations by improving emission color temperature stability while restricting light emitted from an arc tube. SOLUTION: The light-emitting container 5A for the high intensity discharge lamp is formed of translucent polycrystalline ceramics. It includes a center light-emitting portion 2 and side end portions 3 provided on both sides of the center light-emitting portion 2, and tubular portions 1 protruded from the side end portions 3, respectively.
