PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which performs tilt correction for correcting the tilt around an optical axis relative to a horizontal plane perpendicular to a gravity direction of an imaging device. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a movable part that has the imaging device, and moves including rotation on a plane perpendicular to an optical axis of the lens. It includes a controller that calculates a tilt angle around the optical axis relative to the horizontal plane perpendicular to the gravity direction of the imaging apparatus including the imaging device, and controls movement of the movable part on the basis of the tilt angle for the tilt correction. On the basis of a relation between a first position of the pre-correction movable part and a second position of the post-correction movable part, the controller determines whether or not to move the movable part to a third position before moving the movable part to the second position in the tilt correction. The third position is a position to which the movable part is moved in an imaging operation without the tilt correction, and the second position is a position to which the movable part is moved in the imaging operation with the tilt correction, and a position obtained by rotating the movable part from the third position while a rotary shaft does not move on the basis of the tilt angle.
