PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device having an oil filter unit which removes impurity from collected oil over a long term and can provide a high-quality image without deteriorating coating performance of oil even when it is used circularly, or without shortening lives of a fixing member and a coating member, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the fixing device. SOLUTION: The oil filter unit 10 has: a box type filter case 11 which has an inclination for making the oil received from a collection path 42a flow from an upper part to a lower part; and a filter member 12 which is used both as a partition that partitions the inside of the filter case 11 so as to form a plurality of cells 13 in a direction where the oil flows and a filter that is provided in the cell 13. The collected oil received by the upper cell 13 of the filter case 11 from the collection path 42a gets over a protrusion of the filter member 12 and shifts to the adjacent lower cell 13 repeatedly, or filters through the filter member 12 in the cell 13, whereby the impurity in the oil is removed.
