<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a vertical mill by simplifying a pressure roller unit in the vertical mill and simplifying a housing by preventing the housing from being loaded with grinding reaction force. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vertical mill includes the housing 3 forming a classification chamber 9, a grinding table 6 accommodated in the lower part of the housing and rotationally driven, a plurality of roller pressure devices 12 for pressing the pressure roller 21 to the grinding table to grind coal on the grinding table, and a coal supply pipe 27 for supplying lump coal onto the grinding table. The roller pressure device has a plurality of pressure roller units 16 each rotatably supporting the pressure roller, and the pressure roller unit is tiltably supported on the top of a support 13 installed in the center of the grinding table.
