PURPOSE: A joint driving apparatus for a robot using a wire and a robot with the same are provided to minimize the tension of the wires transmitted to moving members by employing an idle pulley. CONSTITUTION: A joint driving apparatus for a robot comprises a drive motor(510), a pair of moving members(533,543), a wire(550), an idle pulley, a joint unit(420), and a regulating unit(555). The drive motor rotates forward and reversely. The moving members are moved straight by the rotation of the drive motor. The wire is bidirectionally connected to the moving. The idle pulley is installed on one side of the wire. The joint unit is installed on the other side of the wire. The regulating unit controls the tension of the wire.
