PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide azulmic acid carbide and a method of manufacturing the same in which productivity and economical efficiency are raised.

SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing azulmic acid carbide comprises heat-treating azulmic acid in a reactor under the inert gas atmosphere, wherein azulmic acid is heat-treated so that the average retention time of an inactive gas in the reactor may become 0.5 minutes or longer.
