<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter operating at a high power factor by improving the waveform of a current input from a single-phase AC power supply, and to provide a vacuum cleaner. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter has: a matrix circuit 23 in which an input terminal 24 is connected to a connection point between an inductance element 28 connected to a single-phase AC power supply 20 and a first bidirectional switching element 29; and a capacitor 30. A control circuit 48 controls ON-OFF of each of a first bidirectional switching element 29 and second bidirectional switching elements 41, 42, 43, 44, thereby improving the current waveform input from the single-phase AC power supply 20 to achieve high power factor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
