<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor which reduces a weight/thrust ratio to suppress power consumption and cut down operation cost. <P>SOLUTION: The linear motor includes an external permanent magnet array 11 composed of permanent magnets arranged adjacent to each other in such a way that the magnetic pole of each arcuate permanent magnet rotate 90 degrees at maximum on a section including the magnet axis, a field having an internal permanent magnets array 15 composed of circular permanent magnets whose magnetic poles have magnetized vector radial components identical in direction with those of the external permanent magnet array 11 and magnetized vector axial components reverse in direction to those of the external permanent magnet array 11, an armature having a ring three-phase coil 31 supported to be movable in the direction of axis of the ring between the external permanent magnet array 11 and the internal permanent magnets array 15, and a drive unit 9 which causes the armature to generate a given thrust force. This configuration allows a strong magnetic flux to interlink across the armature coil even without a core, thus causing a magnetic flux of the filed to interlink across the whole armature coil. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
