<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for performing motion estimation in a digital video system, specifically, to provide a system that quickly calculates estimated motion vectors in an extremely efficient manner. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for decoding a video image including using order values for times of a plurality of images to determine a motion vector of a specific image among the plurality of images.
