<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical switch which is not necessary to make a switch case and a switch cover at a thick-walled state or to prepare rib reinforcement in order to withstand repulsive force of an elastic body in the mechanical switch wherein a circuit is turned on by pushing a movable contact supported with the elastic body onto the fixed contact. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The mechanical switch has a case 2 with an opening at an upper part, the fixed contact 31 supported by the case 2, the movable contact 41 supported on the case 2 via the elastic body, and a switch button 5 for turning on and off the circuit by pushing and separating the movable contact 41 to and from the fixed contact 31. Projected sections 21 extending parallel to a moving direction of the switch button 5 are arranged on a pair of opposed inner wall surfaces of the case 2, and groove sections 51 engaged with the projected sections are arranged on both side faces of the switch button 5.
