摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type display element having high luminance and contrast which can display an image of good display quality, and to provide a reflection type display device using the reflection type display element. SOLUTION: Glass substrates 10, 20 are disposed facing each other and a liquid crystal 15 is sealed between the substrates. A light reflection film 11 made of Al, a light-absorbing body 12 consisting of a black resin and an alignment film 13 are formed on the substrate 10. On the substrate 20, an ITO transparent electrode 21, a resin layer 22 having a concave lens cross section and an alignment film 23 are formed. The resin layer 22 is formed by using a material, for example, having an almost same refractive index as the refractive index for ordinary light of the liquid crystal 15. When no voltage is applied between the reflection film 11 and the electrode 21, light is condensed into the light-absorbing body 12 to produce a black display. When a voltage is applied, most of the light is reflected on the reflection film 11 to produce a white display.
