<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which is effectively made thinner in shape by retreating some members inside the lens barrel to an appropriate position when the lens barrel is collapsed, in a digital camera which forms an image signal by catching object light with a solid state imaging device. <P>SOLUTION: A focus lens 113 is rotated between a position on the optical axis and a retreat position close to a depression 104 beside a CCD solid state imaging device 120.
