PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device having the same are provided to subdivide a block without increasing the number of a light source. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of first blocks is divides into plurality of areas. A plurality of second blocks is divided into areas neighbor with the first block to first direction. A plurality of third blocks is divided into area neighbor with the first block to second direction. A plurality of blocks is divided into area neighbor with the first block the first and the second direction. A first to forth light source drivers(171a~171d) separately drives the plurality of the first to forth blocks into first to fourth sub frames. |
