<p>An image forming apparatus is provided with an image carrier for carrying a toner image, a belt for transferring the toner image, and a transfer device which slides with friction on the belt. A surface brought into contact with the belt of the transfer device has a linear recessed section or a linear protruding section. The image forming device suppresses increase of a frictional force generated between the belt and the transfer device which slides on the belt with friction, and a transfer member is stably brought into contact with the belt transferring the toner image. Thus, increase of drive torque of the belt due to sliding on the transfer device with friction is suppressed, and generation of image failure is suppressed.</p> |
