The method involves circumferentially arranging a thread (13) in sections at a shaft (12), and forming the thread at the shaft. Multiple recesses (21) are stamped into the thread, and multiple compact cutting bodies (22) are welded into the recesses in the thread. The cutting bodies are manufactured from a hard material, where hardness of the cutting bodies is larger than hardness of the thread. A base section is provided in the recesses, and the base section is radially spaced from an outer circumference of the shaft.
