<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly measure the width of each of a plurality of sensors perpendicular to the direction of the rotation of an intermediate transfer body, which are needed to correct color deviation with the plurality of sensors in an image forming apparatus having a plurality of image forming units and the intermediate transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: In one of the plurality of image forming units, two correction reference straight lines 91 are formed on the intermediate transfer body 61 so as to cross a line 93 at predetermined angles α and β, the line 93 being perpendicular to the direction of the rotation of the intermediate transfer body 61. The two correction reference straight lines 91 are detected with the sensors 64 and 65. Times needed for the two straight lines to be detected last time after detected first time are denoted by t1 and t2. When a speed at which the intermediate transfer body 61 is rotated is V, the width W of each sensor perpendicular to the direction of the rotation of the intermediate transfer body 61 is found by using the following expression: W=V×(t1+t2)/(tanα+tanβ). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
