PURPOSE: A porous refractory and a steel manufacturing furnace using the same are provide to improve internal shock resistance property by improving bubbling effects through the control of a fine structure according to pore size and pore adjustment. CONSTITUTION: A porous refractory comprises mullite 70~85 weight%, calcined alumina 5~10 weight%, chromium oxide 1~2 weight%, clay 2~4 weight%, and frit 1~2 weight%. The porous refractory contains zirconia. The particle diameter of the zirconia is 0.01~0.20 mm. The 3~20 weight% of zirconia is contained in the porous refractory.
