The invention provides a fibre, film or foam comprising a plasticizer and a charged claylinked gel, said charged claylinked gel comprising clay nanoparticles which are crosslinked by a charged polymer such that any particular clay nanoparticle is linked to at least one other clay nanoparticle by said charged polymer. Methods for producing the fibres, film and foam are also provided.
