PURPOSE: An anti-fouling system using ballast water and a control method thereof are provided to reduce the installation costs of an anti-fouling system by using a sterilization substance created from a ballast water processing unit. CONSTITUTION: The anti-fouling system using ballast water comprises a ballast tank(100) which is arranged in a ship and stores ballast water, a ballast water processing unit(120) which generates a sterilizing substance in order to sterilize marine life included in the ballast water flowing into the ballast tank, a spray unit(150) which sprays the ballast water discharged from the ballast tank to the surface of the ship, a neutralization device(140) which reduces the concentration of the sterilizing substance contained in the ballast water, and a filtering device(110) which filters the marine life contained in the ballast water flowing into the ballast tank.
