PURPOSE: A socket contact is provided to prevent the looseness of a socket contact from a housing. CONSTITUTION: When a socket contact(20) accepts a portion of a mating contact(50), spring units(26a,26b) contract with the other contacts. Spring support units(25a,25b) supports the spring unit, and lances(27a,27b) are formed in the spring supporting unit. When the spring unit contacts the other contacts, the spring receives a force from the other contact unit along a second axis perpendicular to a first axis. The lance is pressed along the second axis by the force.
