PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for capturing an image are provided to enable a third person to easily capture an image intended by the third person. CONSTITUTION: A display setting unit(21-2) of a digital signal processor(21) displays a pre-captured guide image at an edge portion of a screen. The display setting unit displays a live view image at a rest portion of the screen. If the guide image is identical to the live view image, the digital signal processor captures under the control of a control unit(21-5). A guide image generating unit(21-1) creates the guide image by trimming the edge portion from the captured image.
