PURPOSE: An inspection apparatus for a weld part of a tailored welded blank member and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the damage of a mold and the stoppage of processes by preventing a failed vehicle panel from put into the next process by distinguishing the failure of a weld part. CONSTITUTION: An inspection apparatus for a weld part of a tailored welded blank member(10) comprises a light emitting unit(U1) which emits illumination light to a welding unit with being installed on a robot hanger and with corresponding with a welding unit(W) of a tailored welded blank member, a dark room jig(3) wherein a space part(S) becoming a dark room if the tailored welded blank member is settled on a seating surface through an edge in the dark room jig, and a light receiving unit(U2) which outputs a signal to a controller(20) by detecting wave light leakage if the illumination light of the light emitting unit emitted to the welding unit is leaked due to the failure of the welding unit.
