PURPOSE: A photographing apparatus and a photographing method is provided to precisely confirm the quality of a picture. CONSTITUTION: A focus is automatically adjusted by defining a focus area for a subject(S110,S120), and an image of the subject is captured(S140). The image data indicating an image is generated(S150). A quick view image which indicates a portion of the image is generated by converting the image data(S160). The image data are compressed to the compressed data for storage(S170), and the quick view image is displayed on a display unit(S180). The compressed data for storage are stored(S190).
