PURPOSE: A non-volatile memory device and a method for operating the same are provided to improve a data retention characteristic by transferring data into a stable memory cell block. CONSTITUTION: A reading operation is performed to read data which is saved in a first memory cell block(S200). The first memory cell block includes first groups. Second groups, in which the number of error bits of the read data is identical to and is less than the number of maximum bits or is more than a pre-set number of bits, are detected from the first groups. The data, which is saved in the first memory cell block, is transferred to a second memory cell block.
