PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for capturing a digital image using a face recognition function are provided to prevent the overlap of faces by using a face recognition function when taking a picture of group people. CONSTITUTION: A face recognition unit(51) recognizes a face of an image, and a display unit(53) displays a face recognition zone in a recognized face. A judgment unit(55) judges the overlap or proximity of the face recognition regions. When the face recognition regions are close to each other or overlapped, an inducing unit(59) induces the change in the photographing operation. The judgment unit the proximity or overlap of the faces based on the information on the coordinates of the close face recognition region.
