<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio outputting device capable of attaining a thinner display screen and moving the localization position of an audio image in the height direction of the screen without degrading tone quality, and to provide a video/audio reproducing apparatus and an audio outputting method. <P>SOLUTION: The audio outputting device includes a dividing part 121, a delay processing part 122, a frequency adjusting part 125, first outputting units 151 and 152, and second outputting units 153 and 154. The dividing part 121 divides an input audio signal input into a first audio signal and a second audio signal. The delay processing part 122 delays the first audio signal from the second audio signal by only a predetermined amount, and outputs it. The frequency adjusting part 125 adjusts frequency bands of the second audio signal so that the frequency bands of the second audio signal are composed of frequency bands on the high frequency side in the first audio signal or frequency bands on the frequency side higher than that of the first audio signal. The first output units 151 and 152 are arranged at upper or lower level from the screen of the display for displaying a video image, and output the first audio signal input from the delay processing part.
