<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymethylmethacrylate bone cement composition for controlled hyperthermia treatment, which enables to fill bone cavities produced by bone metastases. <P>SOLUTION: The polymethylmethacrylate bone cement composition for controlled hyperthermia treatment comprises: polymethylmethacrylate; an X-ray opacifying agent; methylmethacrylate and/or an alkylmethacrylate; an initiator system; ferromagnetic and/or superparamagnetic particles having a particle size of up to 500 μm; and at least one biodegradable or biocompatible crystalline substance having a melting point in the range of 42-80°C. The composition is well suited for the production of a medicament for temporary over-heating of body regions (hyperthermia treatment) without undesired temperature peaks, in particular in the area of the spinal column, to 43-46°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
