<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a bead apex, providing high rigidity, especially the high rigidity in a high-temperature condition, and to provide a pneumatic tire having the bead apex using the rubber composition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the bead apex contains a rubber component and a thermoplastic polyurethane. Preferably, the rubber component contains a natural rubber, and the content of the thermoplastic polyurethane is 3-60 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component.
