The method involves measuring the temperature in a surrounding of a folding roller pair that is provided in a folding machine (10). Temperature gap correction value characteristics are empirically determined and stored in a memory of a storage computer (26). A gap correction value is read from the determined and stored temperature gap correction value characteristics, where the gap correction value depends on the measured temperature. Gap width is corrected corresponding to the gap correction value.
