<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional element such as a liquid crystal display element, an element such as an organic EL, a surface light emitting body, an optical device, or a solar cell, which can be securely sealed in a simple heat sealing process, can prolong a life and can reduce a thickness. <P>SOLUTION: The sealed functional element includes a base layer (W), an organic functional element layer (X), and a gas barrier film layer (Z).
