<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic brake and a motor equipped therewith, capable of easily forming certain clearances between an armature and a friction plate, and the friction plate and a side plate during the rotation of a brake disk to prevent the abrasion of the friction plate, the armature, and the side plate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Non-magnetic balls of an even number are evenly disposed on a circumference of the brake disk, and the balls are alternately contacted to the armature and the side plate by an elastic force of a plate spring. In such a composition, since the balls contact the armature and the side plate by the elasticity of the plate spring even during brake disk release, and the friction plate can retain certain clearances with the armature and the side plate, the abrasion of the friction plate or the like is prevented even during the rotation of the brake disk.
