<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time required for the process of starting a program such as the OS of an information processing apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus 1 includes processors 10, 11. The processor 11 executes a preparatory process for the processor 10 to read a group of instructions about the OS from a DRAM 13 and make them executable (e.g., checking the consistency of a kernel image held in the DRAM 13). Meanwhile, the processor 10 reads a group of instructions about the OS from a flash memory 14 and executes them concurrently in time with the execution of the preparatory process by the processor 11. Furthermore, with the completion of the preparatory process the processor 10 changes a location from which it obtains the group of instructions about the OS from the flash memory 14 to the DRAM 13 and continuously executes the OS.
