EYELID DETECTION APPARATUS, EYELID DETECTION METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of accurately detecting an eyelid without being affected by a light environment. SOLUTION: A camera 2 continuously photographs a subject's face and a control unit 14 of the eyelid detection apparatus 10 obtains that face image and stores it in an image memory 12. The control unit 14 identifies an eyelid search area from the face image, extracts edges from within the eyelid search area, and labels each of the connected edges (edge groups). Then the control unit 14 identifies the same edge groups according to changes in the movement of the labeled edge groups over time, and performs relabeling by which the same edge groups are given the same label. The control unit 14 detects the edge group that corresponds to the top eyelid based on the changes in the movement over time of the edge groups thus labeled, and detects the edge group that corresponds to the bottom eyelid from a predetermined area below the detected edge group that corresponds to the top eyelid.
