PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centering device and a centering method capable of simplifying the entire device, and consistently centering a workpiece. SOLUTION: The eccentricity of a workpiece W rotating via a rotary table 1 is detected. The centering action is executed, which corrects the eccentricity by imparting an impact to the workpiece W by a hammer means 25.
