<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly predict printing results by little printing/measurement. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a color material amount space using used amounts of a plurality of color materials to be attached to a recording medium in printing as an axis, for a plurality of orthogonal lattice points to be arranged in the color material amount space on the basis of a plurality of primary colors preselected on the axis, a lattice point displaced to a position where an error between a reference measurement value when the printing is performed on the basis of gradation by independently fluctuating the used amounts of each color material and a predicted value when the reference measurement value corresponding to the plurality of lattice points is input in a prediction means is minimized is selected while maintaining magnitude relation to restriction of a color material placement amount and magnitude relation between each lattice points, and a printing result when the printing is performed by an optional color material used amount is predicted on the basis of the measurement value by measuring a result by performing the printing by a color material amount set of each lattice point.
