Disclosed is a cleanser composition which has reduced protein denaturation properties and reduced irritation to the skin and is therefore more highly mild.  Also disclosed is a process for producing the cleanser composition.  The cleanser composition is characterized by containing a compound represented by structural formula (1).       C10-CH(SO3A)-CONR'R''         Structural formula (1) [In structural formula (1), C10 represents an linear or branched alkyl chain; R' represents an hydrogen atom or a C1-3 alkyl group which may have a hydroxy group; R'' represents a C2-6 alkyl group which has one hydroxy group; and A represents any one selected from an alkali metal, an alkali earth metal and a protonated amine having 6 or less carbon atoms which may have a hydroxy group.]
