PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically restore a toilet seat to a standing state after the toilet seat is utilized in a Western-style toilet used by both men and women. SOLUTION: The Western-style toilet includes: a toilet body 2 whose upper surface is open; a freely openable and closable lid body 3 pivoted to the rear end part of the toilet body 2; and the toilet seat 4 provided so as to be freely vertically moved simultaneously with or separately from the lid body 3 and formed so as to be mounted on the opening peripheral edge part 2b of the toilet body 2. In the Western-style toilet, the toilet seat 4 abut on the inner side face of the lid body 3, is loosely pivoted via a spring 10 to the pivot part of the lid body 3, and abut on the lid body inner side face by being turned upwards by urging of the spring 10 automatically after the toilet seat is used.
