The arm rest has an arm support shank (1), a bearing shank (2) and a bearing bracket, by which the armrest is mounted on a seat. A shaft (3) is fastened on the free end of the bearing shank and is pivoted between a non-usage position and an intermediate position. The shaft is rotatably supported in the bearing bracket around its longitudinal axis. The shaft is supported on the bearing block tilting around an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
