<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent, as further as possible, unnecessary still images from being generated when generating still images while playing back a motion picture. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a still image generating means for continuously generating still images from a motion picture being read and played back from a recording medium and for recording the generated still images on a predetermined recording medium; a playback state detecting means for detecting a change in a playback state of motion picture data being read and played back from the recording medium; and a control means for controlling operations of the still image generating means. When the playback state-detecting means detects that the playback state of the motion picture data being played back is changed, the control means controls so as to stop generating and recording the still images in the still image generating means, thereby preventing unnecessary still images from being generated, while achieving the purpose of continuously generating user desired still images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
