PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time taken to charge capacitors and to effectively use energy charged into the capacitor used for driving a light emitting means that is not used for stroboscopic photographing. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a plurality of light emitting parts (xenon tube 5 and LED 7) as a light source for stroboscopic photographing; and a plurality of capacitors (capacitors 4 and 6) corresponding to the light emitting parts for driving the plurality of light emitting parts; a transformer 20 for charging the capacitors by boosting the voltage of a battery; and a voltage conversion circuit 2 that converts the voltage charged into one of the capacitors and charges it into another capacitor. The apparatus also includes a CPU 10 that controls the transformer 20 and voltage conversion circuit 2, thereby controlling the charging of the capacitors. From a battery 1 or another capacitor, the CPU 10 charges the capacitor of the light emitting part appropriate for a photographing condition, out of the plurality of light emitting means.
