SOLUTION: A reference occupancy ratio Rtmp is set based on an engine speed Ne, a volumetric efficiency KL, and whether an EGR is on or off (S120), and when the vehicle is not stopped and load operation of the engine is performed, the engine is controlled (S130-S170) by setting a target ignition period tf* later than a reference ignition period tftmp by just a correction amountΔtfr that becomes larger to a side for delaying the ignition period as an occupancy ratio R to which the reference occupancy ratio Rtmp is set becomes smaller, and when performing load operation of the engine when the vehicle is stopped, the engine is controlled (S130, S180, S150-S170) by setting the target ignition period tf* to a period later than the reference ignition period tftmp by just the correction amountΔtfr that becomes larger to the side for delaying the ignition period as the occupancy ratio R set by subtracting a prescribed valueΔR from the reference occupancy ratio Rtmp becomes smaller.
