PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that will not cause moire, even if reading a dot document, or the like, even though the device uses a CIS method for sequentially reading intensity of reflected light of respective colors by a line of reading elements, by sequentially lighting light sources having colors different from one another. SOLUTION: This image reading device that reads the intensity of reflected light of a document by reading elements 12 by sequentially projecting light rays different in wavelength with respect to the document S from light sources, while a scanning head 3 having a light sources capable of emitting light rays which differ in wavelength and the reading elements 12, arranged in the main scanning direction is faced to the document S and moved in the sub-scanning direction is provided with a focusing member for focusing reflected light in a pixel range of the document S facing the reading elements 12 and in the peripheral range thereof on the reading elements 12; and information of the reflected light of the periphery of the pixel range of the document S facing the reading elements 12 is introduced into the information of the reflected light of the respective read elements 12.
