<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color unevenness inspection method that easily performs color unevenness inspection, and an inspection image data generation apparatus for use in the color unevenness inspection method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The color unevenness inspection method includes: an inspection image display step of displaying a color unevenness inspection image on a projector 2; a color space conversion characteristics acquisition step of acquiring the RGB/XYZ conversion characteristics of the projector 2; a photographing step of photographing the color unevenness inspection image by a photographing means to obtain photographed image data; a color space conversion step of generating converted image data in which a second color space format of the photographed image data has been converted into a first color space format of the projector 2 on the basis of the RGB/XYZ conversion characteristics of the projector 2; a converted image display step of displaying the converted image data on the projector 2; and a color unevenness inspection step of performing color unevenness inspection on the basis of the color unevenness inspection converted image.
